Dr. Magdy S. Guirguis, DC, is a practitioner of both holistic arts and chiropractic medicine, having graduated from Los Angeles’s Cleveland Chiropractic College in 1988. His educational accolades also include a bachelor’s degree from California State University in biology. Advanced Chiropractic Center was established by Dr. Guirguis back in 1991, and he went on to start Arbor Vitae Wellness Center in 2009 as a way for his patients to receive all of their holistic care in one place. This is why in addition to professional chiropractic services, Arbor Vitae Wellness Center also provides acupuncture, massage therapy, naturopathic medicine, and even ayurveda.
In addition enjoying an active lifestyle that includes yoga, rock climbing, and meditation, Dr. Guirguis has over 30 years experience as a volleyball player and has coached high school and college volleyball for many years. He has served as the chiropractor for several professional volleyball tours and Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s TEAM in Training.
Dr. Guirguis has three kids (ages 13-19) who keep him on his toes, active, and very young.
Deborah S. Kim, L.AC., Dip.OM (NCCAOM) is a California State and nationally licensed acupuncturist, herbalist, and Asian bodywork specialist. She graduated from UCLA and Yo San University, receiving her master’s degree with honors in traditional Chinese medicine, and has also completed postgraduate studies in orthopedics and holistic nutrition.
Deborah practices acupuncture and related therapies (cupping, moxibustion, and tui na, among others). Together, these modalities create a complete form of internal medicine that has been used for thousands of years in treating a wide variety of health concerns. Muscle testing and other diagnostic tools are utilized as a highly personalized form of analysis to determine nutritional needs for whole food supplements as well as herbal medicine. A detailed description for a customized diet as well as lifestyle counseling will be given to each patient.
Deborah is a certified tai qi and qigong (Chinese arts in energetic movement) instructor, as well as a yoga instructor, and may prescribe exercises as part of a personalized protocol.
Dr. Tamara D. Trebilcock, ND is a leader in women’s and digestive health and is a licensed doctor of naturopathic medicine. She received her medical degree from Seattle’s Bastyr University, the nation’s leader in natural medicine for general practitioners, and has had her practice showcased in a PBS series on naturopathic medicine. Dr. Trebilcock specializes in treating digestive concerns (bloating, constipation, diarrhea, IBS), general low energy, hormonal imbalances, thyroid imbalances, PMS, acne, pregnancy preparation, infertility, anxiety, and depression.
Dr. Trebilcock is medical director of Integrative Health Institutes (IHI), a leading institute in integrative medicine, and serves as a consultant and lecturer, providing expertise in the field of integrative medicine. She serves as the chair of the Education Committee of the California Naturopathic Doctors Association and is an active member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians. Dr. Trebilcock strives to educate, honor, and listen to all patients to discover and cure the individual obstacles preventing their optimal wellness.
Dr. Emily Dashiell, ND is a licensed doctor of naturopathic medicine. She earned her doctoral degree in from Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington, after receiving a degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from University of California, Santa Cruz. Dr. Dashiell has seen firsthand the effectiveness of natural therapies in treating chronic and acute illness and, as such, is committed to helping her patients obtain their health goals and experience life with optimal health.
Dr. Dashiell provides primary care naturopathic medicine for the whole family. Her care blends conventional medical diagnosis and treatment with the use of natural therapeutics, including dietary and lifestyle counseling, nutritional supplements, herbal medicine, homeopathy, IV nutrient therapy, and bioidentical hormones. While the focus of her practice is in women’s health, gastrointestinal health, and pediatrics, she regularly sees patients of all ages who have a broad range of conditions and concerns.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Dr. Dashiell is happy to have returned to California to practice medicine. An athlete herself, she has extensive knowledge of the high demands of serious athletics and, as such, the importance of proper nutrition and health are integrated into her practice. She is a member of the board of directors and chair of the Professional Development committee for the California Naturopathic Doctor’s Association (CNDA).
Brigita Slekys, L.Ac., an East Coast transplant, has become comfortable after eight years in Southern California. With experience in chiropractic and orthopedic conditions, chronic pain, fertility, anxiety, insomnia, and digestive wellness — to name a few — Brigita is eager to treat new and existing patients at Arbor Vitae Wellness. She holds a master’s degree from Bastyr University and a diploma from Shanghai, and is well versed in traditional Chinese medicine, which includes acupuncture, cupping, tui na massage, herbal consults, and supplement or nutritional therapies. Dr. Danielle Gran is a licensed naturopathic doctor whose clinical interests include naturopathic dermatology and women’s health including fertility and contraceptive care, PMS, healthy aging, and the menopausal transition. Dr. Gran understands that patients are more than the summation of their parts, and she addresses the root cause of symptoms with individualized treatment plans that consider the many facets of each patient’s unique physical, mental, spiritual and environmental condition.
Dr. Gran earned her medical degree from Bastyr University in Seattle, Wash., the nation’s leading naturopathic medical school. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of California at Santa Barbara, majoring in molecular, cellular, and developmental biological sciences. At Bastyr, she received extensive practical training in primary care using evidence-based natural modalities as well as conventional treatments. Her practice utilizes clinical nutrition, lifestyle modification, and stress management as well as herbal medicine, homeopathy, and craniosacral therapy.
Dr. Gran is a member of the California Naturopathic Doctors Association, American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, and Endocrinology Association of Naturopathic Physicians. In her spare time, she enjoys dancing, hiking, cooking, and road trips.
Dr. Lindsay Wagner is a chiropractic physician with a focus on nutrition and holistic medicine. Her adventure into alternative and healing arts began with a meniscus injury at the age of 19. Deciding against surgery to pursue a combination of chiropractic and naturopathic care to heal her body, she was soon able to walk without pain and in the course of one year was competitively racing half marathons.
She graduated from the Oregon State Honors College with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. During this time, she spent three years pursuing micronutrient research and the effects on a healthy body and laying the foundation of nutrition as a primary avenue to heal the body and musculoskeletal injuries. Afterwards, she went on to earn her doctoral degree in chiropractic at the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon. Here, she found movement and exercise with a balanced diet to achieve optimal health.
Dr. Wagner, who is Webster certified, treats both acute and chronic conditions with evidence-based techniques including instrument-assisted soft tissue and functional movement taping. She is looking forward to working with the Arbor Vitae Wellness community to help bring patients out of pain and assist them in their healing journey.
